Fulham vs Bournemouth

Friday 3 December, 19:45

After 20 matches, the Cottagers are one point ahead of the Cherries. The two teams meet on Friday evening, with Cherries’ manager Scott Parker returning to face his previous club.

Since returning to action following the recent international break, neither Fulham nor Bournemouth have been able to retain their early-season form.

Both Fulham and Bournemouth have drawn for the second round in a row; the Cottagers were held to a 1-1 draw against Preston on Saturday at Deepdale, while Bournemouth failed to capitalise on Fulham’s draw by throwing away a two-goal lead against Coventry on Saturday.

Fulham have been held to consecutive draws, but they have extended their undefeated record since the international break in October to nine games (7-2-0), winning five of their previous six Championship home games and only failing to beat Derby during that time.

Parker had to alter his formation for the first time this season as the Cherries were missing seven players in their 2-2 draw with Coventry at the weekend.

The Cherries have only grabbed two points from the nine possible since the international break and will feel the pressure from QPR if they don’t win this game. After four consecutive clean sheets in October, Parker’s team has now conceded eight times in their previous five games, which might be an open invitation for a free-scoring Fulham to come after them. Bournemouth have lost two of their past five Championship games and drew two.

AFC Bournemouth may be missing 9 players for their trip to Fulham, with Gary Cahill not really close to a return on Friday. Bournemouth’s two first-choice center defenders, Lloyd Kelly and Gary Cahill, were both ruled out for the game against Coventry.

Parker will also be without the suspended Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma for the trip to Craven Cottage.

Matches involving the Cottagers have averaged a league-high of 3.25 goals per game, with 12/20 (60 %) matches yielding Over 2.5 Goals.
