Bookmakers Gambling football sponsorship

According to a recent research, the global sports betting business will be worth USD 140.26 billion by 2028. From 2021 to 2028, the market is predicted to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.1 percent.

According to the survey by ResearchAndMarkets.com, bookmakers continue to be the primary advertisers of European football club jerseys.

Currently, 21%, or slightly more than a fifth, of all football teams in Europe’s top 15 have sponsorship contracts with betting companies on their shirts.

Bookmakers sponsorships vs Regulatory bodies

Despite tightened prohibitions on betting advertising throughout the continent, betting business logos featured on the front of 51 of the 244 clubs in the survey. That is 18 more than any other industry and 11 more than in the 2020/21 season.

According to the ResearchAndMarkets.com analysis, “T-shirt partnerships are usually the most profitable businesses within a club’s portfolio of commercial partnerships, given the exposure they generate for the brand. As an alternative for brands, these types of partnerships are attractive as they offer the opportunity to build trust and credibility on a large scale through association with clubs that have a passionate fan base.

Top 5 Leagues and betting sponsorships

The most lucrative place on a football team’s shirt provides essential exposure for any business and is a significant source of revenue for teams. The top five European leagues (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France) are expected to collect $1.2 billion in revenue from shirt sales.

The Premier League is the most profitable in terms of shirt rights. The sale of the valuable space netted English Premier League clubs $450.54 million in total, about $200 million more than any other league on the continent.

However, according to UEFA (Union of European Football Federations) data, the market for football shirt sponsorship has dropped by 4.9 %, from US$ 1.44 billion in the 2020/21 season to US$ 1.37 billion in the 2021/22 season.
